Offical opening of the new boarding house

This morning we welcomed back many previous Heads of House along with governors and the team behind the creation and construction of the new building. The house was officially opened by Colin Burns our Former Chairman of Governors, who cut one of the TWO official ribbons at the same time as the other one was cut by our current Head of House, Owen. The accolade of oldest head of House to attend went to Russell Keeley (1936 - 1945) who came with his son, Duncan also a former Head of House in 1972.   After the initial opening ceremony our guests were then shown around the building which the matrons and boys had made sure looked immaculate! It was a fantastic morning and a great opportunity for us to chat with some of the old boys and find out what life was like for Hall boys in years gone by.  They all agreed that we are incredibly fortunate to be living in such a superb facility.

House Hockey Matches

It is House hockey match week.  The year 9 team were unlucky to be beaten by both of our rival houses and the year 10 boys did slightly better only losing to Middle.  Let's hope the 6th form team can replicate the rugby team and win the competition!

Valentine's dinner

On Thursday, we held our annual Valentine's dinner, this year in the Upper Pavilion.  Nineteen 6th form couples were treated to a fantastic menu from our superb catering department which consisted of Camembert baked with garlic and relish, duck rillettes with plum relish served with warm baguette for starter; rib steak, shoestring fries, Bearnaise sauce with garlicky green beans as the main course and profiteroles, lemon tart and clotted cream for desert. Delicious! The boarders were fantastic waiters and Anuj went from table to table mesmerizing our guests with his magic tricks.  Mr Chua and George played live music throughout the evening and we will have made a lot of money for this year's chosen charity - "Help for Heroes".
