Happy Easter

The final week of term was as busy as ever and you will see from the photographs below that there was plenty to celebrate for Hall House.
The school's senior seven aside rugby team made it all the way to the Roslyn Park sevens semi finals which is a superb achievement.  As with the West of England rugby sevens tournament, several Hall boys were once again involved in this: Jack, Oscar, Parimal, Owen.  It's worth noting that we did beat the eventual champions during the group stages, which as the Headmaster pointed out in the final assembly, really means we won it!
The House Cross Country on Thursday afternoon was a great event in which the vast majority of the House was involved. In  the year 9 and 10 race we were very proud to have second and third place from two of our year nine students: Tom and Rupert.  This was an exceptional achievement considering they were a year younger than half the field running.  Despite having two counters in the top three, Middle were too strong for us as a team and they were the winners. We were second with Upper in third.  In the Senior race, the boys went one better and did win the competition.  Harry from Middle was first but then we had runners come in at second (Jonathan), third (Tom), fourth (George), fifth (Oliver), ninth (Alec) and thirteenth (Hywel).  A great effort not only from these boys but also everyone who ran.
Congratulations to Hywel who has once again been selected to represent Wales at hockey.  He has been an integral part of the very successful school first team this season and was also awarded the Idris Cup in the final assembly. This cup is given in recognition of being the outstanding player of the season at Kingswood.  Well done Hywel and best of luck training with the international team this Easter.
Also during the final assembly, Colts colours for hockey were awarded to Lucas, Calum and Jeremy with full colours going to Parimal and Hywel.
Finally, Hall and Fonthill enjoyed a fun packed House entertainment in the sports hall on the final night of the term.  A quiz followed by a variety of games including Mr Harding's version of curling involving a pool ball and the centre circle in the sports hall (!) meant the Spring term culminated in a great evening.
Enjoy looking though the photographs below and have a great break.

The Great Chorus! concert

The Great Chorus concert was performed in the Sports Hall last night.  An amazing evening which culminated in a standing ovation had a number of Hall House boys and their parents involved.  The highlight from our perspective was the performance by the professional orchestra of 6th former, Matt's A Level compostion, "Four Minutes"- an extrmemly moving piece of work.  Lots of boys from the House gave up hours of their time to rehearse but the time spent certainly paid off in what was a truly memorable evening - see how many of our House you can spot in the photographs!

Sunny Sunday fun

The sun shone brightly today and the boarders had great fun with a variety of activities. In the morning a group went Clay Pigeon shooting on the Upper sports field and then in the afternoon we entertained Dean Close School. A coach load of boarders from this Cheltenham school came and played football and basketball against our boarders. The games were played in great spirit and were evenly matched with Kingswood winning the football and Dean Close winning the basketball. Particularly well done to the Hall boys who participated in these activities and also a special mention must go to Oliver (year 12), Toby (year 10) and James (year 10) who were out practising for Ten Tours whilst the rest of us were having fun in the sun!

Early Morning Cricket

With the cricket season just around the corner, some of our keenest cricketers have been getting up especially early to go and get some extra batting practice in.  Jamie, one of our year 9 cricketers was up before the other boys today practising his technique.  Good to see this left hander honing his skills in time for the new season.  Keep it up Jamie!

Latest house development news

Some pictures of the new house development really show how it is coming on.  The builders are hoping to have the roof on in the next couple of months then work on the interior can commence.  You can see from the photographs the common room with its sunken "tv pit" and the long corridor which cuts through the entire building.

The boys with their medals

Well done fellas!

Well done to George,  Ollie, Orion, Prabhat and Saugat who all completed the Bath Half Marathon earlier today.  Great running boys and excellent times, especially Ollie who came in at 1 hour 35 minutes.  The gauntlet has well and truly been thrown down for next year's Hall House runners.

Our top runner Ollie - must be the Kenyan factor!

Lazer Fusion

Boarders and a few day students spent a fun packed couple of hours at Lazer Fusion today.  It was great that some of the Spanish exchange students were also able to come.
