Summer term

The boys in years 11 and 13 have all been working hard in their examinations with many of them completing them next week. Our year 12 students are also in the middle of their end of year examinations prior to going on work experience next week. The final round of examinations take place next week also for our year 9 boys.

Lots happened in the last half term despite it being a short one. Mr Chua and Mr Harding have been keeping the twitter account up to date: @KWS_HallHouse but for those of you not on twitter, below are a selection of the photographs posted.

Dodgeball

Our spring term House Entertainment was our annual Dodgeball competition with the Fonthill girls joining in too. Many fine matches were had and it was a thrill to hear the laughter and shrieks as the balls flew around the courts. It was a great way to end the term and all of the boys and girls were happy to go home with their Easter eggs after a fun filled evening.

End of Spring Term

Lost of fun was had at the end of the spring term with the Senior House Hockey, Football and Cross Country competitions. As ever the boys put in bags of effort and were rewarded with some excellent finishes in the cross country most notably from Will who won the year 9 and 10 competition, and Henry, Callum, Tom, Luke and Tayo who all scored for us in the senior race. We were runners up in the football but went one better in the hockey and won the competition ably led by the first team captain, Fin. I hope you enjoy looking through some of the photographs below.

The last few weeks

Whilst we have been keeping the Hall House Twitter account @KWS_HallHouse regularly updated, we have rather neglected our blog so here is a brief round up of the pats few weeks.
Rob in year 10 has not only been representing the first XI hockey team along with Dom, Freddy, Fin (captain) and Tristan but also played for England U16 against Ireland, a fantastic achievement.

The year 11 GCSE and 6th form A level students have performed their Drama coursework. The range of work was superb and it was great to see so many of the boys not just performing but also involved backstage. Well done to Sam, Louis, James and Harry in year 11, Sam and James in year 12 and Conor in year 13. we hope to be able to add some photographs soon.

Following on with the Drama theme, a couple of our lads have done really well in the Mid Somerset Festival. William was highly commended for his singing and Oli was second in his category with Distinction. This is awesome considering both boys were in their first ever festival.

Just before half term, we held our annual Valentine's Dinner which this year raised over £500 for our house charity - Coppafeel. A superb meal was created by our catering team and 44 couples thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

On Friday we welcomed the year 9 boarders from other houses for some fun and games. Lots of laughter was shared as they all threw themselves into the daft games designed by Mr Harding.

Earlier in the day on Friday, Mr Harding was soaked...but it was all for a good cause. The PR decided they could raise money for Comic Relief if they could get staff members to agree to getting a good soaking if the right amount of money was paid. And it was!

Welcome back

It is great to see the majority of the boys have now arrived back safely with stories of travels to japan, Chine, Hong Kong, the USA, Russia, Kenya, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Bulgaria, Spain, New Zealand, Australia and many other places around the globe. The year 13 students are now straight back and into their mock examinations and the year 12 students doing tests. Before we know it, the year 11 students will have their final GCSE examinations and the Christmas celebrations of 2018 will be a distant memory.
Well done to Reuben who was awarded the Hall House Rugby Player of the season and a big thank you to him, Dom and Conor who gave us a fabulous round up of the term and the many academic, music, drama and sporting acheivements of the boys in the house.
Before the memories of the autumn term fades too fast, below are a handful of photographs taken at the end of the year House entertainment - on ice and in the sports hall.
Best wishes for 2019!
