House Hockey

This weekend both the seniors and year 9 boys played in House Hockey.  The seniors competed well but were narrowly edged out 2 -1 by Upper and 1- 0 by eventual winners, Middle.  Well done to the Middle men.
In the year 9 competition we went in as underdogs but a 1-0 win against Upper followed by a last minute goal against Middle to seal a 1-0 win against them too meant we were crowned champions at this age group.  Well done to all who took part and good luck to the year 10 students tomorrow.

Friday's lunchtime concert

On Friday, it was Easton's turn to entertain and he played the cello beautifully with Freya.  Their rendition of Scarborough Fayre was very moving.

Lunchtime concerts

There are regular lunchtime concerts held by the Music Department throughout the year which showcase the fantastic talent we have at Kingswood.  It was great to see that Dominic in year 11 took part in one of these concerts at lunchtime today playing the flute.

Valentine's Dinner

This evening our annual Valentine's Dinner took place and despite being nearly a week too early a great time was still had by all. Delicious food was created by the Catering Department and music was provided by Mr Chua, Johnny and Max.  The boys became waiters for the evening and did an amazing job serving the couples.  Most importantly we hope to have raised several hundred pounds for our chosen charity this year: HemiHelp.

Bowling and Bake off

Several of the boys went ten pin bowling this weekend.  Thanks to Mr Chua for organising this.  The boys also entered the boarding Bake off organised by Miss Wright.

End of January...beginning of February

It has been a really bust week for the boys in Hall over the last seven days.  On Sunday evening the whole boarding community got together to celebrate Burn's Night.  We enjoyed the traditional Scottish food of haggis, neeps and tatties and then all proceeded to the Sports Hall to do some traditional Scottish dances.  The boys were also given the opportunity to have a go at providing the air for the bagpipes!!  Enjoy looking at the photographs below; as you can see, a lot of fun was had.

John persuading Dom to have fun
On Wednesday and Thursday evening no less than TEN of the boys were involved in the GCSE production of, "The 39 Steps".  The show was a huge success and plenty of laughs were had by the audience as they enjoyed this spoof of the John Buchan classic.  Well done to all involved who not only acted but also provided the technical expertise in the form of the lighting and the sound.  Photos to follow soon....
