Happy Birthday Ben

It was Ben's 18th birthday on Friday and his family very kindly organised a cake that all of the boys could share.  As you can see from the picture below - lots of the boys were keen to help Ben celebrate his special day!

Senior House Rugby

Today saw the final day of house rugby and it was the seniors' turn.  We won our first match against Middle two tries to nil thanks to a try from year 11 prop Dominic and a well finished try from Hamish after some great work by Founder.  This set up a final match in which the boys just had to make sure they avoided defeat to Upper.  We won thanks to a solitary try from year 11 Fin which meant we were crowned Senior House Rugby champions again for the next 12 months.  Well Done to all of the boys who took part in the matches this week and particularly well done to the seniors.

House Rugby

It is House rugby week with Middle House looking to retain the titles they won last year.  So far this week they have managed it!  But an excellent fight was put up by the year 9 boys today who comfortably beat Upper 26 - 12 in the first game before losing two tires to one against Middle in the decider. Yesterday the boys from year 10 met a similar fate beating Upper only to lose convincingly to Middle.  Well done to all of the boys who have taken part so far and fingers crossed the seniors can go one better on Thursday.

House debating

Well done to Sam and Maddie who teamed up from Hall and Fonthill to win the first round of Debating by beating the Middle and Summerhill combined team.  The pair argued against the motion that "Money has ruined sport".  Tonight sees Henry and Uliana team up to see if the Hall and Fonthill team can win outright by beating Upper and School

Circuit of Bath Walk

The Hall House boarders in years 9 to 11 participated in the annual Circuit of Bath Walk in aid of the local hospice Julian House.  It was great for the boys to get out and walk parts of Bath they would not usually walk.  The weather threatened to rain but was actually very kind to them as you can see from the photographs below.

Year 9 and 12 Camping Trip

Our boarders in year 9 and 12 were lucky enough to go camping this weekend. The trip arranged by Mr Davies and accompanied by other staff, was in the Forest of Dean and the boys had great fun  with the boarders from the other house. The weekend included a barbecue, singing around the camp fire, raft building and abseiling.  The boys all arrived home safely earlier today and were VERY tired!

WELCOME BACK!

It is great to see everyone back safe and sound and also we welcome our new boys to the house.  Everyone has settled in really well and I look forward to posting lots of pictures over the forthcoming weeks celebrating the boys achievements and giving details of weekend activities.

This weekend lots of boys participated in our block fixture of rugby matches against local rivals KES of which we won the majority of matches. Well done fellas!

Following on from that, I was thrilled to see so many of the boys involved in House Music on Sunday and this year WE WERE CROWNED CHAMPIONS!  The boys (along with the girls from Fonthill) gave a sterling rendition of the classic, "I'm a Believer" and the result was never in doubt.

Special mention should also go to Hugo, Tayo and Avyash who played drums, trumpet and guitar in the house ensemble group with their rendition of the Amy Winehouse version of "Valerie".  House Music was a great way to start the year and once again, well done to all who took part.
